The modern city Nagpur was created in 1702 AD by Gond King Bakhat Buland Shah by bringing together 12 wadis called Rajapur-Barsa. Government of Maharashtra therefore celebrated the Tercentenary of Nagpur in 2002.

Infrastructure Company DLF has acquired 153 Acres of Land from Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) to build a hub for IT and IT enabled services (ITES) at the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) coming up along with the MIHAN Project, Nagpur. DLF has an arrangement with the companies like GE (Genpact), Nokia, Ericsson, and ABN Amro, under which these companies would be buying space in the areas developed by it.

The State Government of Maharashtra has unveiled Rs 6,000 Crore City Development Plan, for the Winter Capital Of State, Orange City of the world “NAGPUR”. The State Government has undertaken innovative policy to Boost the Economy and massive infrastructure developments of NAGPUR in a time bound period through Public – Private Partnership and as a result within a short span of time an investment of merely Rs 5,000 Crore and Jobs for nearly 4 Lac persons is expected.
